How do I make a 2D adventure platform? [closed]

I'm trying to make a game that is 2D. The background is 3D but you can only walk left and right (and jump to.) I've looked up tutorials on how to do this but could never find anything that worked. Either the script was wrong or it was outdated. Do any of you guys know how this is done?
