Where do I start in the language of Lua? [closed]

My question is: How do you start to understand how to script? Now that may be hard to answer but, here's an example: So you're just about to improve or build in your place and you want to script something to function it/to do something. But, you don't know how and that's when LUA comes in. And my point is, "where do I start in Lua?"
