How should I make a fighting game like Hyperdimension Neptunia?

So I'm trying to make a game kinda like Street Fighters or Black Magic 2 (love you osama!!) but mostly like Hyperdimension Neptunia. I am a beginning scripter trying to test myself but I don't know how I should make the game. I want it so the weapon inflicts hitstun upon attack and during the first attack(slash) it will make a UI appear showing the damage made and will stay while adding more damage. After there is no more hitstun, the UI will go away and the opponent will be able to move again. Can someone direct me the right way to make a game like this?

The thing about beginners is that they always try to jump into hard projects. DON'T go into a hard project yet, as you will not know how things work and you will lose motivation. Keep learning how to script and eventually (from beginners to advanced, then create a basic game like an obby or a simulator) you'll get better. Give it maybe 1 + years, then try to make an advanced game, and then you can JesseSong 3916 — 3y
