How would I create a "Catalog effect"?

Okay so right now I'm trying to work on a tycoon game that has a build menu with categories and different build options. What I was planning to do was make a table of all the items I have, along with which category they belong to. My problem is, Idk how I'd implement that into a gui. Like I COULD just manually add each thing into a gui I make, but that would take ages and isn't very efficient. So my question is, how would I go about doing that? I'm not requesting someone make it for me, I'm just asking what would I look up to learn it myself. If you need an example, just look at miner's haven's shop.
