Animation Editor Grouping Parts Together While Animating a Custom Rig?

Asked by 4 years ago

(This post was made to help people who are dealing with the problem stated in the title above because there aren't any other sources (or at least easy to find sources,) that touch on this problem.)

I was animating a custom rig, but when I connected all the parts together and began animating it, most of the parts that one of the arms consisted of was getting grouped together (Not in the workspace, in the animation editor.) Eventually, I found out that the problem had to do with how the animation editor detect / logs parts. My model consisted of a lot of parts that had the exact same color and size, which must have messed with the animation editor somehow. To fix this, just go into each of the similar parts and very slightly adjust the color and size of each part so that almost all of them are different. (I'm pretty sure you have to change both the color and size for each part, but I'm not sure if just changing the size or just changing the color works too.)

This isn't at all correct. wookey12 174 — 4y

it's probably most likely because you are naming tons of parts the same name. there is no need to have tons of parts on a character that will never be animated, the easiest way is to weld all of those parts to the character instead of rigging a bunch of parts wookey12 174 — 4y

All the part's names were different and they all needed to be animated and doing this did help make the animation editor work, and I remember it helped with this other rig I made aswell. slevardi 15 — 4y
