How do I make a mesh float on water with a player?

Today I was making my game have a flooded version. I wanted the player to be on a boat, but, whenever I tried the boat went halfway underwater. I have tried body force, scripts (to many), and adjusting physics but nothing has worked.

Maybe try body position, and then the body velocity for the sailing itself, and then once you let the hotkeys go add the body position again.
