Should I really use object oriented programming?

Do most of the top games on Roblox use OOP? To me it just makes my code much more messy and I don't understand how to use it at all. All I really want to know is if it makes a difference in the quality and performance of games. I have been researching OOP for about a month and I've gone nowhere.
