How do I learn more advanced?

Asked by 4 years ago

I know how to learn scripting and the basics, but how do developers know concepts that don't make sense and are not on Youtube or the developer hub. I know that everything is on the developer hub and also, you cant find all the built in function in roblox also there is no possible way that you can easily find services and stuff and do stuff easily with it also in the roblox developer hub they only give 1 example of it and does not explain in depth what it does so how do the developers find everything and use everything without developer hub and Youtube.

You have to create concepts on your own and execute them. The more complex your project is, the more you'll most likely learn more from. I recommend looking on the devforum user creations and get inspiration from there.

If you need learning resources (sites), I can recommend these: • Luai, a community driven Lua manualRoblox Developer ForumAdvanced Scripting YouTube series by PeasFactory

@metryy, I'm thinking of just learning the Lua language itself and continue on after I have learned basically every concept. I think this is the most reasonable strategy at getting better at learning more advanced things, considering that almost every top developer has learned a language before they started creating games. I'm going to learn Lua, because it is the fundamental building blocks of the Roblox programming language, and I do not want to start all the way from scratch learning the Roblox language after I have done some work with an IDE.

Do you think this is a good strategy?

Also, thanks for the advice but I have already used those resources numerous amounts of times and I do not think they will help me[except Luai(maybe)]. Sadly, I'm not invited to the developer forums :(

I know a basic understanding of Lua and I also know how to create good algorithms, but I just don't know how to get better. I also don't get the advanced physics and concepts like OOP and why we should use them. SupaTheNoobCatcher 12 — 4y
