Script for multiple (local) NPC animations, how would I write this and where would I put it?

Asked by 5 years ago

I am just a mom who likes to build. I play Roblox with my kids daily. We decided to make a game/place. We picked a subject that we all love so don't laugh and it is actually doing pretty well for knowing nothing. I learned by doing research. There is no game play, it is mostly a tour type of place but I have animations in it and people really like them. I want to add more but it is going to get really laggy so I was thinking if I could have these multiple animations only work when each player is close to them. I can not figure out what I would use for the script to do this. I have read for hours and hours but scripting is not my strength. I used a basic animation script in the rig for each one that I am using but to make them more local I do not know what I would write and where I would put it. I know this is more complicated now with the local script change. My game is BTS Studios and I am just wondering if anyone would know what script I would use to make this happen.

So basically you'd like a script where when you get close to the NPC, it plays the animation locally? TypicallyPacific 61 — 5y

YES....because I would like to put a bunch of them in and I feel like so many would make it laggy. I just am not good at writing a script and that is where I get lost. I know I would have to put one in the StarterPlayerScripts for every NPC that I have but directing it to each particular one is where I get lost. wassabiansrule 0 — 5y
