Can someone explain to me how custom character works?

I am really confused on how to make a custom character move. Lets say i want to make my custom character into someone like mario. What i do is i copy my character and paste it into the Workspace and move it into the mario model and then i group the mario model and my character model together into a group and name it StarterChraracter. Lastly, i would make my default character transparent so you would only see the mario model. But when i launch the game, my model would not spawn out anyone know why? im reallly confused.

No. not at all. What you do is make the Mario model and rig it with joints and create animations (use plugins as it makes life easier), and then drag it into game.StarterPlayer with the name "StarterCharacter". Your Roblox Character will not appear and instead, the custom character of yours.

is it really a must to make animations? i just want my custom character to move without the limbs moving or u can say like sliding across the map BakingPeanut -7 — 5y
