How do i let a player keep their accessories when they respawn?

So i have a game with a gui that allows them to change their appearance (hair, hats, skin color, face decal, etc.)

all the script does when they choose an item for example is... delete the hat they are wearing and replace it with the one they chose.

The problem comes into play when they die, once they respawn they get set back to the original look and lose all of their appearance changes they made.

This is a big problem because people die alot in my game.
