I've created a custom gear from scratch, but i'm a little stumped on where to go from here?

I'm creating a game that will include custom gear that when used, will give the player points and include a custom animation. I've created the animation, but how can I make the animation trigger when the player holds the gear and clicks? I'm quite bad at scripting.. If someone could walk me through this I would be very grateful.
