How would I animate a gun itself?

Asked by 6 years ago

So I'm trying to animate the gun itself, like the bolt and the mag, would I weld the parts I want to animate to the gun or would I use motors? Btw this is not an fps shooter, so no custom rigging... If you answer, I am very grateful.

You in the lead already, just you need to first weld the gun parts, I recommend unioning the parts, because the less part the easier it will be to rig the gun with out missing a part. Make sure to name the parts because if you don't you will confuse yourself. Then get a dummy and place the gun inside the dummy, then attach every part the the dummies hand. It should automatically place itself to its hand, that's when you know its rigged right. When animating sometimes you have to,select the name of the part on the side panel. You also would need to make a animation script. If you just want to play around, there is a gun with animations name "make your first r15 gun." Then export your animation to the animation, track and there you go. It would help to just have a model of the gun then, have a replica of the gun with the scripts.

So in other word, you need motors, using the "custom rig" plugin, nake sure it has very little part. 3 parts will be good, those parts should be the body (main) the mag and the bolt. The mag and bolt should be children under the gun body, when you animate it, it needs to a main part (body) thats how you position, the gun. User#19513 5 — 6y
