How could I change the name of players in the chat?

Asked by 7 years ago

I'm working on a murder mystery game, And I've made a lot of progress. I've added the randomized player appearances and random names, But I want players to have the same name in the chat rather than their account name. How could I do this? I've looked through all the scripts in the chat, But it's way beyond my understanding. Could someone help me find the part of the script I need to edit, And what script do I need to edit? I've looked through them and looked through the wiki article but I've had no luck.

You will need a custom chat that is scripted by you for your needs. You have nothing to do with Roblox's own chat for such thing. superalp1111 662 — 7y

If you think a fully new chat is too confusing, just make the game only bubble chat, then add a GUI which will show people's messages with their nick that has been given randomly. `Player.Chatted` event is what you will need for this. superalp1111 662 — 7y

WHATCH THE ALVVINBLOX TUTORIAL ON MAKING A CUSTOM CHAT THEN REMOVE THE OLD ONE AND MAKE IT BUBBLE ONLY THEN THE NEW CHAT IS CUSTOMIZABLE AND ALSO IN A VIP GAMEPASS IT WILL ALSO COME IN HANDY!!

1. Why the need for caps? 2. Why not put this as a comment? This fits more into a comment rather than an answer, as your "answer" just sounds like a suggestion. 3. You have a run on sentence: it makes it hard to understand what you're trying to point out. 4. I'll give you props for giving a good suggestion; but again, your answer fits more into a comment rather than an answer. TheeDeathCaster 2368 — 7y
