Questions about animation, Click for more info. Would animation work without rigs?

Asked by 7 years ago

Hey people reading this question, I have a few questions about animation.

First; If I made an animation on a dummy then wanted to play it on another NPC which probably doesn't have rig or weld or anything would the animation play?

This is because you need rig to animate, so would it play on a NPC without the rig or the rig is just for animating?

Second; If I took an animation from library and just copied the Id and it didn't belong to me would the animation still work?

Thanks you for answering or any feedback.

  • 1) No, you would have to play the animation on a rig setup with the same motors as the rig the animation was made on. This is because Animations go off of a Pose attribute. Pose essentially provides the info for where the aspects of the rig go. If the pose is telling the an aspect of the rig that isn't there to do something, then you're going to run into a problem.

  • 2) No, you can only run "trusted" animations. This means either you or your group has to own the animation.
