will you help me make understand lua or rbx metatables?

i've went to the wiki and didn't really get much from it. i tried to look them up but still got nothing. if you know a site that explains it well and no doubt will make me understand please post it here or just make a normal post explaining it. still pretty new to scripting and thanks!

most of what i saw from my research are stuff that have some reference from C when i have no experience coding in that language whatsoever.
