So I've started, really in the 4th month of 2016 to learn how to program. but I find trying to do things myself just isn't getting me anywhere, I have learnt a bit and I have all the basics down (with RBX lua, a little bit in html, and lua as a whole) but I still find myself coming into problems I cant solve (and when I find a solution, usually on some web forum through google, it tends to be pretty simple or obvious) and the whole process is really tiring and slow. So, my question would be, (although I did read that blog post a couple days ago on here, it was pretty helpful) what is a good way to learn how to program? what resources are there (and where are they)?
Honestly you're doing pretty much what I do and still do. Basically, with Roblox Lua this community is always here to help if something really is not working out.
But that's pretty much what I did just to try make things with what you know and use the Wiki for certain things you need help on, after awhile you'll get into the mindset almost and debugging and such you'll start to catch on to how other people are fixing their problems and it will just come to you. Every problem or error you fix is a lesson learned and a mistake you wont make again. After awhile those add up and in the end you learn more and more from them. But it wont be quick, took me much longer than 4 months to get to where I am now, pretty intermediate but still even some simple things get me stumped(like really simple) and I don't know how but I can't figure them out. I come here for help. But after I get that issue resolved I remember that and wont have the same problem again. It's a long slow process but keep going and later on you'll realize just how far you have come. I hope this helped or meant anything :) enjoy
The wiki and well Useful but you can also see videos on youtube and copy the script even understand how it works, or simply understand seeing, you have to start from basic to create great works of art that you did.
recommend you see the videos of Friaza ;D
