Where do I begin to learn the basics of scripting and grow that knowledge?
Scripting is a major key to making new things/models and places, and by making actual objects do what they are programmed to. My question is, where do I begin? How do I learn the basics of Scripting and progress my way to challenging scripts?

Just take some scripts from people and mess around with them, reading the wikis on things will also help. They have some tutorials and such here. But seriously, the best way to learn how is to just take some scripts and start messing around with things, you will pick it up in not too long. Here are some more scripting tutorials http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php/Category:Scripting_Tutorials I learned by taking peoples scripts and changing them and trying to understand them and make them my own.

and continue from there other places like youtube are helpful peaspod helped me. Most of all don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand something ask about it... just do not request for a script to be made on this site.

I started scripting by watching YouTube videos or by going to this site: http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=AllTutorials
Another helpful way may be looking at free modeled scripts and editing them/learning from them.
