Lua is a different language from what you see roblox has.

Well, in a way. Roblox uses a highly simplified version of it. I'm pretty sure there's some http stuff you can do in roblox.

Thanks, yea I'm not looking to learn anything advance here. I spend most of my time in the http and java field. NcroP 10 — 7y

Roblox is written in C++. Roblox's Lua is not any different from Lua. What people call "RblxLua" and Lua are the same. The Roblox staff just provided their own "Roblox API" and made a few changes through their C++ and Lua glue code, such as the _G table not being shared between scripts. Link150 1355 — 7y

Roblox isn't really necessarily even Lua. I mean it is, but it is a much easier way of using Lua so that it is more understandable to people of younger ages. To my knowledge Roblox's Lua is the only thing that is usable. If you understand one language though then it's really easy to get used to another. Make sure you use the Roblox wiki for help on specific things. It is a big help and a big time saver! You could also try digging around other people's scripts to learn how to script yourself. Just try to figure out what all of the code is doing. :) Hope I helped.

Roblox's Lua is not any more difficult than standard Lua. They're the same. Roblox just provides their "Roblox API", which adds new functions and Objects. Link150 1355 — 7y
