Disabling default game-pad inputs for my own control scheme?

Hello scripting helpers, I've been having trouble with vehicle seats and game pad comparability. The default set controls for game-pads are interfering with my set controls and it's causing lots of problems. So, how would I change/disable these so I can use thumb stick 1 for a different set of controls.
