Gamepad menu ?

I want my game to be gamepad compatible. So when you enter the game there will be a menu and the player will be able to select different guis, but i saw that you have to press the SELECT button to use the gamepad to move around to the different guis, How can i make it to where the player doesn't have to press select ? Example - Strobe II's menu
