Can you make mechanical objects?

Asked by 8 years ago

Is there a way to make something work mechanically/by the laws of ROBLOX physics? For example, a balisong knife? I've already tired to make a balisong, the pins and rotation holes, but when I play-test it, they clip through each other. I've made sure that all the parts are unanchored and that they can collide. Is there a script?

You could simulate physics using welds and cframes, although this has a tendency to be quite jumpy and can be very complex to do, however you avoid all the problems of clipping (so long as your code is correct).

Well is there a reason why they're clipping? Orebloxx 5 — 8y

Probably just too much force being applied, paired with Roblox's useless physics engine. darkelementallord 686 — 8y

You aren't the only one who's having clipping problems. They've existed for years. darkelementallord 686 — 8y

Well, I've seen a car engine build once, and it was working fine. Not too long ago, even. Link150 1355 — 8y

Probably using CFrames. If not, then it was very well made. darkelementallord 686 — 8y
