DataStore stores differently online vs in studio [closed]

I checked game.PlaceId both online and in edit mode and they are the same. I was confused by this wiki page where it says "To access it, open place from website (for example, from Start Page->My Projects)" because the example "Start Page->My Projects" is the opposite of "open place from website." I tried start server and start player and the data wasn't the same there either. What is the actual correct method of accessing DataStore keys from studio?

I thought that you could just click edit and access Data Store keys from the command bar. That explains why it wasn't working.. TheGuyWithAShortName 673 — 10y

The wiki page says you can. The wiki page is wrong. 1waffle1 2908 — 10y

I think you were able to at one time when it was in testing, because I remember Unclear saying he accessed his players' stats from Studio. TheGuyWithAShortName 673 — 10y

The simple answer; The online mode uses ROBLOX Cloud Service

Edit mode does not. It only access the cloud service while you are Saving and Opening. Even during Auto-Save, it only uses local services.

In other words, it isn't possible? If so, I need to go edit the wiki page. TheGuyWithAShortName 673 — 10y

No, as far as I am aware, and as far as my knowledge on the ROBLOX Cloud Service extends, no, it is not possible. AmericanStripes 610 — 10y

No, unless a recent update has changed the functionality, you CAN access your data from DataStores in Studio. Just open the Game through an Edit on the site. cheaterdude12 125 — 10y
