If you need any personal, hands-on advice, you can PM me, and I would be happy to help! But the wiki is good. I used the wiki when I started out and it was very helpful, but sometimes I still had some questions that it couldn't really help me answer. So if you need any help, just ask! :D

If you are completely new to scripting, I suggest watching PeasFactory Scripting Tutorials on YouTube. The tutorials are ordered by difficulty. The Basic levels are mainly to do with Bricks and their properties while advanced tutorials use API's and sophisticated functions.

The wiki is option #2, it does give tutorials but in a highly advanced English language. Unless you are a straight A student in English, you will be able to understand the wiki without a problem.
