How would I create something that happens daily?

I want to create a sort of daily stipend thing, but I don't know how I would do so. I have thought of a few different ways, but I don't think any will work. Basically, I am trying to create a counter that counts down for 24 hours, and then when the player joins in, it restarts and the player gets something. How would I manage this?
