How can I fix strange rotation axis when using Motor6d?

Hey, I'm trying to make a neat canopy opening effect using Motor6Ds and animations but I keep ending up with weird angles with the parts, here is the model before rotation, and here it is afterwards.

from what I gathered, it seems to rotate around an area near this point rather than the object it's attached to, why? and how can I fix it?

EDIT; I find it especially strange that it neither rotates around the hinge, or it's own geometric center.

If you can re-position the center of rotation with the animations, center it at the cylinder in the back. Try that. sidekick83 80 — 9y
