How do I get started on scripting?

I would suggest starting with some basic Lua, You can look on google and find maby options to learn Lua.

Just because you're a good scripter doesn't mean you'll be even close to famous, so I'd recommend not associating the two or you'll be in for years of work for little recognition.
Just google scripting tutorials, it'll help.
