Hello, I Been Scripting For a Lot of times now, I mean, i only get serious at scripting like few months ago, but since im lazy, i progress slow, but the real problem is, I finished Advanced Tutorial Series That Was Made By TheDevKing, And Also Watch Advanced Tutorial From AlvinBlox, I Dont really Know What To Learn Next , Or Where to go Next, I Sometimes Use The things i learnt to roblox studio but not that often
Should I Make More Things Using The Things I Learn For Experience, Or Should I Go Ahead And Learn The Things I Dont Know?
Anyone Can Lead me To The Right Way? I dont really know what to do now
One way would just to start working on a game, or at least, that's how I learned. Because whenever you start a game, doesn't matter how prepared you are... things will start to mismatch left and right. So I think before learning new stuff you have to put down the things you know. For example you could start a small FPS indie title... but maybe let's say your gun system fails and you go to the dev forum or this website to get help. You learn that the method you used is old, outdated and really unefficient and there people teach you how to make a new and improved one. So now with your new knowledge you go and fix the gun system, and about 4 other errors pop up, you do the same exact thing and so on.
I see learning scripting really as trying, failing, learning and repeating. No game was just put down in 2 days with no errors whatsoever.
Or maybe trying to jump head first into an indie title sounds too hard, you could try to do tech demos: Basically where you write some code, see if it works, try to solve, if that doesn't work do same stuff as you would in an indie title.
I'm not the best scripter out there, but certainly not the worst and all I've learned was from reverse engineering free models and asking for help online, hope this helps!
Just try to make any kind of game, that include scripting. If it would be easy to you - try to make a higher level game. In some moment you will find something you don't know, so it is the way you need to learn :) You cant learn everything at once, just make games and learn what you need for them.
