My Roblox Player works perfectly fine there are no issues until now. When I was editing our group game a few hours ago it was functioning well. I reopened the Roblox Studio application and it was installing again for some reason and resulted in an error system. I tried to do distinct ways to fix it such as reinstalling both the applications (Roblox Player and Roblox Studio) and restarting my pc (thrice) yet it won't work and everytime I create and edit a game or click the Roblox Studio application it shows the following:
An error occurred while starting Roblox Studio
Details: Unable to open file for writing: C:\Users\Abraham\AppData\Local\Roblox\Downloads.part: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process
I have been struggling for hours I need help kindly reply or contact me asap to fix this issue it would be much appreciated!!
Hi! I don't know if this is still relevant to you but in the event you yourself have found a fix, I'm still gonna put this up for anyone else who stumbles here with the same problem!
I just dealt with this very problem, and I'm sure you can guess it gave me a VERY hard time. I looked all through Google, no available fixes. HOWEVER, I did stumble on someone saying "Oh, it works on other accounts on my computer, which is weird!" (I'm paraphrasing.)
So, I make a new account on my laptop, try redownloading Roblox Studio there, and what do ya know? It worked! No more pesky error messages.
TL;DR: Just go into your computers settings, make a new account on your device, and reinstall Studio on that new account. It SHOULD work!
I will continue trying to make studio run on my main admin account on my laptop, but until then, I think this may be the only fix... :( Hope this helps you or anyone else with this problem, though!! :D
Little bit of a late response to this, but after experiencing this issue after the most recent update, I had to look into it. After verifying that there were no other processes actually using the file in question, I took a look at it. In my case, it turns out the file it was referencing was not actually in use, and was instead corrupted. In this situation, your solution is to just delete that one file and Roblox will automatically replace it on next launch.
