Do I have to use RemoteEvents?

I haven't done anything in studio in a couple years, up until a couple days ago. I think I remember seeing something about having to use RemoteEvents to make players interact with eachother or the game wouldn't come up on the recommended section. Is that still true? I can't seem to find any information on it

Remote events are used to communicate between server and client, they help prevent exploiters, and are not truly that complicated to learn, if you really don't want to use them you can turn off filtering enabled, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

If you need to communicate between server to server or client to client, you can use bindable events which are very similar, but allow communication between server-server communication.

If you are confused on the Remote Events, I would recommend reading: https://developer.roblox.com/en-us/api-reference/function/RemoteEvent/FireServer

if this helps don't forgot to accept answer.

I only need to user remote events when using local scripts right? server scripts should still be fine?

Correct, however if you need to communicate between server and server I'd use bindable events
