In every tutorial I've seen on raycasting, only two variables have been used when casting a ray; hit and position. But looking through the Jeeb model in Roblox's template for a racing game, I found a third variable called normal that I can't seem to figure out what exactly it returns.

local hit, position, normal = game.Workspace:FindPartOnRayWithIgnoreList(ray, ignore)

I get what hit and position returns, the tutorials I found for raycasting explained it perfectly, but I can't figure out what normal returns
