Why does the Billboard GUI stops rendering after 70K studs?

Even though I set the MaxDistance to inf/math.huge, the BillboardGUI will stop displaying its elements after 70K-ish studs. I know 100K+ is a bit of an overkill number for any game, but I've seen GUI elements displayed this far away before in games like Galaxy, so I'm wondering how to do this.

This is actually a really good question- I don't know if this is a problem with Roblox itself because of the Galaxy example you provided, but your use of math.huge makes me believe you can probably just set it to a large integer

As for why it stops rendering after 70K studs, it's probably to improve performance. Games like Galaxy probably bring the BillboardGUIs closer to the player, or they probably don't use BillboardGUIs at all and use regular ScreenGUIs drawn on top of everything.

Draw distance cap of 100K studs :/ Time to draw some GUI

There is a draw distance cap of 100K studs in Roblox, there's nothing you can do to change that.

To work around this, I made a dummy part on the CFrame between the target BillboardGUI and the Player 70K studs away from the player.

This code should show you how to do it:

-- Calculate position 70K studs away from player facing the BillboardGUI
local dummyPartPos = (Player.Character.HumanoidRootPart.Position - BillboardGUI.Adornee(.PrimaryPart).Position).Unit * 70000

-- Create invisible part to adorn the BillboardGUI to
local dummyPart = Instance.new("Part")
	dummyPart.Parent = workspace
	dummyPart.CanCollide = false
	dummyPart.Anchored = true
	dummyPart.Position = dummyPartPosition

-- Adorn BillboardGUI to the part we just made
BillboardGUI.Adornee = dummyPart

Hope this can help anyone who sees this!
