Obviously with LocalScript you can just go plr = game.Players.LocalPlayer. Is there a better way to accomplish the same with a script than the one below?
plr = script.Parent.Parent.Parent.Parent.Parent.Parent

Why do you have a server script inside of a Gui? You should be using a LocalScript to control any player Guis.
Because the buttons do things like change values or character appearance. Should I use remote events instead?
Yes
Yep, take all the Gui input from a LocalScript and then send it over to the server via a remote event. The server script can be somewhere like in ServerScriptService for it to run properly.
Okay then, thanks.
