I've looked everywhere to see if anybody is having this same issue and found someone posting a bug report on this about a year ago. Basically, I am cloning a model into a folder in the workspace and then using GetChildren() on that folder. The folder already starts with 1 model in it. However, the function only returns the model that was already in the folder and not the new model that I cloned. Even when I print the length of GetChildren() for that folder, it prints 1 object. The bug report that was submitted recommended to update the script once the new object had been added but I don't know how I could do that. Any ideas or am I stuck with an unfixable bug?
Edit: here's the bug report link https://devforum.roblox.com/t/new-children-dont-get-detected-with-getchildren/78348

Well, U didnt provide any pics or videos or timestamps but there is the possiblity that you check, how many childs it has BEFORE you add the new thing in the folder. So it prints out only 1.
If you really make a while true do loop and constantly check, how many obj are in the folder I swear there willbe more than 2 then.
You could also check it with the Instance.ChildAdded function. Just some examples. :)) Hope it helped
Ok. I love you from the bottom of my heart. Your suggestions didn't help me whatsoever, but it made me think about other possible solutions. I changed the script to a local script so now it will update on the client side, so that's where I must've been going wrong.
