proper way to set Player.ReplicationFocus?

wait(5)

local plr = game.Players.LocalPlayer

local char = plr.Character

plr.ReplicationFocus = game.Workspace.LoaderTest

Im currently trying to get a part in the workspace to generate chunks using replicationfocus. I copied and modified some code from the wiki. because "localplayer" was in one of the code lines, and since localplayer only works in a localscript I put all the code in a localscript. I got an error saying that "LoaderTest" was not a valid member of workspace telling me that the localscript cant see the part. what is the proper way of setting replicationfocus on a part in the workspace?

General Practice

Use :GetService() to retrieve the Players Service

Use :WaitForChild() to make sure something exists before using it.

Use workspace instead of game.Workspace

Explanation

You can get the player on the Server using the PlayerAdded Event of the Players Service, you can also get the player's Character through this even if required (it seems you needed it for some reason based on your code above)

Solution

game:GetService("Players").PlayerAdded:Connect(function(plr)
	plr.CharacterAdded:Connect(function(char)
	-- You can get the player's Character Instance from this
    end)
	plr.ReplicationFocus = workspace:WaitForChild("LoaderTest")
end)

I read the Dev Post

Though if you read carefully it does say you can only use this on the Server (even though for some reason they used a Client-Only variable).
