how do i make it so when i click a text button it opens a gui thingy in roblox game maker thing?

I'm assuming that the GUI you wish to open is a custom (not default) ScreenGui. With this in mind,

For GUI buttons

Insert a LocalScript into the TextButton. The LocalScript should now contain print("Hello world!"). Delete that and paste this into the LocalScript and follow the green instructions:

local gui = game.Players.LocalPlayer.PlayerGui.ScreenGui -- replace "ScreenGui" with the name of the gui you want to appear
script.Parent.MouseButton1Click:Connect(function()
	gui.Visible = (not gui.Visible)
end
