Is it possible to make one massive light source?

I want to make a very very big map, and I want to make massive light sources to light up certain areas, I dont want the games default lighting because it has no source its just......up. pointlights are too small and dont reach far enough, is there a way to create one massive source of light?

what do lights have to do with scripting

from what I can see it doesn't have to be directly related to scripting to be a question, do I need a script to solve this problem?

Wait for FIB (future is bright), now you're limited to the max distance, which is really small =/

Hey there.

All light objects (SurfaceLight, PointLight, etc...) have properties that allow you to change their direction, brightness, and ranges. You can use these properties to adjust the lighting to your liking.

I once needed a source of light too, a big one. I had a big source of light, without even scripting.

  1. Add a part and name it whatever you want (Dont have to name it).

  2. Add SurfaceLight to the part, make the light face where you need it to face (Downwards as a celling light, for example..).

  3. Just resize the part and make it huge.

  4. Make the part Invisible and turn CanCollide off.

Walla, you got a big part with source of light.

Good Luck.

making the part bigger would be a great way of making more light as you described, but I was thinking more along the lines of making the light itself reach further from the part rather than making the part bigger. but the range only goes up to 60.
