Did you guys do the damage calculation on a server script to prevent hackers?

Hi guys, I would like to ask if you guys do all the damaging calculation on a server script to prevent hackers from changing your NPC's Humanoid health to 0? I mean it seems possible to change Humanoid.Health locally or do hackers not have the ability to change the humanoid health locally?.

If so we"ll need to detect whether the change in health was legit or not with a server script that constantly checks for unusual change in values am I right? But doing so requires a lot of client - server communications with the remote function(). Will the workload jeopardize the quality of the gameplay then?

Thanks!

With filtering enabled, that shouldn't happen.

ahh that's a relieve.. I thought since the npc are in the workspace (local) they might be able to change it. Thanks

The server will not recognize most changes if it's not done by a serversided script.

So if i used a local script to damage and enemy, the damage would not register, unless i do the damage through the server script?

Yep, if it's filtering enabled. You could invoke a remotefunction and then a script could pick that up, and deal damage to the enemy.

please mark as answer if this is what helped you the most<<

I didn't mark because i was able to kill off my npc using a local script fireball. At first it's just like you've said. The damage I do only appears to me, but if i were to continue shooting and kill the npc, the other player can see it too

i don't think you're on filtering enabled, then
