If the game generates random numbers, should I be concerned about exploiters?

I know very little about hacking in Roblox, but I've heard exploiters use some sort of program which allows them to view the local files and fire events.

Let's say there's a game that has a lottery system. Put money in, get a random amount of money out. If I use a remote function to allow the server to determine the amount of money given, would anyone be able to control the rng?

If you make the random number on the client and then pass it as an argument in the RemoteEvent to the server, then yes exploiters could take advantage of your lottery system. Just keep in mind when scripting things that exploiters have access to anything that's on the client, that means they can also fire RemoteEvents with their own arguments. To stop this, you could do server side checks to make sure that the arguments being passed are actually possible. In your case of random numbers, it would be best to just create the random number on the server.
