You have to break it down into smaller problems, like so:
- Input. How will the player input that they want to grab onto a ledge? "Automatic" is fine (for example), but then you have to answer "How will my scripts know that the player is supposed to grab onto a ledge?" The answer would probably be "If they're close enough." So, you might use
.magnitudebetween their Torso and nearby ledges to determine if they're close enough. Or you might use a collision between the player and an invisible (and anchored and with CanCollide = false) brick to signify that they're in the area in which their character will grab onto the ledge. - Animation. How do you make it look (reasonably) good? (Will probably involve the AnimationEditor.)
There may be a lot of trial & error and you may have to experiment with different ideas.

If you're just learning to code, a parkour script is really ambitious, and it will be very, very hard to make beginning.
i can read code and understand what it does well however i am still learning how to code on my own
You should rephrase your question. Saying "what sort of script should i use when making a parkour script?" is like saying "What kind of sandwich do I use to make a ham sandwich?"
games all run on FE now and you should definetly use it if you are not already...if you understand FE thoroughly then you will know what type of scripts to use where..heres a link http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=Building_Games_with_Experimental_Mode_Off
