What I tried at first was clearing the children of an R15 character and then putting the children of an R6 character in it, but that didn't keep the character's accessories/clothes. Then I tried just replacing the limbs and torso, but that kills the character.
Please help.

change the avatar to R6 in the game's configuration
R15 and R6 are two different rig types http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=API:Class/Humanoid/RigType I am not sure if you can change the rig type ingame
