Specific way to make a train move, wait and continue?

Yes, it is that apart here I need to find a way to make a train, one which can go around bends. What would be the better way to make it, adding velocity to the top surface or making a track and adding a motor to the wheels? One more question, how can I make the train go to a location then wait for specific seconds and go onwards?
