When I start my game I end up going to random spawn locations in it. should I use a script or what cause Im getting a better understanding of rbx.lua so at the moment I dont really know how to script a primarySpawn point.

If you want to spawn in a specific location, go to toolbox, click Roblox Sets in the category and select Neutral Spawn, place the spawn you want to be spawned at

Spawn Points can be enabled and disabled with their property: Enabled. I suggest using a script which enables/disables spawn points to your liking.
Enabling or Disabling works, so does teleporting players to the spawn point of your choosing. If you need help, check out the wiki.
