How do you use the Character Property?

So I am working on a game where there is a world full of NPCs and you can jump from on to another sort of like possessing them and then you fight other players. So I have been experimenting with the character property of a player. So far I have encountered two problems. The most important one is that when you switch your character the old one disappears and there is there is also a problem with the new Model not animating. Any advice on how to fix this?

It might be easier to: 1. Make an inanimate copy of the player that takes the place of where they were. 2. Make the target NPC invisible. 3. Make the player temporarily look like the NPC (by changing accessories, colors, etc). 4. Teleport the player to the NPCs location; you'd undo all this when the "possession" was finished.

Well, the way I'd approach controlling NPCs and constantly switching to my main character would be to set my Camera to the NPC, disable the movement of my own character, and essentially take over the Humanoid of the NPC. You'd have to look more into how ROBLOX controls characters, but taking that into mind, you should be able to control NPCs. Next time, include your code.
