I've seen it done in multiple games, where the player is turned into a ball and functions as that ball by rolling around to complete a level or something of that sort. Is there any sort of way that I would possibly be able to do that?
COMMUNITY QUESTION
How would I transform the player into another object?

Theres many ways of doing this
You can make the player's body parts invisible and then Instance new a Part and weld it to the player
Or you could change all the Body parts and reweld them
But i think making the body parts invisible is more easier and lots more clean
Heres an example of you becoming a ball
local player=game.Players.LocalPlayer
local character=player.Character
character.Head.Transparency=1
character["Left Leg"].Transparency=1
character["Right Leg"].Transparency=1
character["Right Arm"].Transparency=1
character["Left Arm"].Transparency=1
character.Torso.Transparency=1
local Ball=Instance.new("Part",character.Torso)--It is a new part that is inserted inside of Torso
Ball.BackSurface=Enum.SurfaceType.SmoothNoOutlines
Ball.BottomSurface=Enum.SurfaceType.SmoothNoOutlines
Ball.FrontSurface=Enum.SurfaceType.SmoothNoOutlines
Ball.LeftSurface=Enum.SurfaceType.SmoothNoOutlines
Ball.RightSurface=Enum.SurfaceType.SmoothNoOutlines
Ball.TopSurface=Enum.SurfaceType.SmoothNoOutlines
Ball.Shape=Enum.PartType.Ball--Makes it a sphere
Ball.Name=(character.Name)
Ball.BrickColor=character.Torso.BrickColor
Ball.Size=Vector3.new(4,4,4)--So it covers the entire body
local w2b=Instance.new("ManualWeld",Ball)
w2b.Part0=character.Torso
w2b.Part1=Ball
The script creates a ball that has the same brickColor and is welding to the torso
Its missing the fact that u have to roll and stuff but i think you can figure that out.

They are not really "turned" into a ball per se, their parts are just made invisible then welded to the "object". Like the ball you said, their parts are made invisible then they are welded to the ball or it to them, then they script however the ball needs to work.
You can also change the model via 'player.Character = newModel' (though you may need to set up custom controls and you will need to update the camera's target).
