Child and Descendant objects are mentioned all over the Wiki but not surprisingly there is no information on the Wiki about them. Does anyone know the difference between a Child and a Descendant?

A child is always a descendant. There is no avoiding this because the classification overlaps. Descendants also includes children of children, children of children's children, etc etc.
The other direction is parents and ancestors. Isn't that convenient?
