Can I use a script to give them, or do I need to use Local Scripts? I can't test it out in a game, because if it doesn't work, when people play, it will be off.

The better option would be to use a server script, within Server Script Service. Although, if you are not planning on using the FilteringEnabled function within the ROBLOX workspace, you can use which ever.
You can use a script, since AwardPoints takes a User ID.
