Where can I learn Roblox.Lua The easiest? A Portion of the other ways Have Helped me or not

Where should I Begin Scripting?

a good Portion of the Alternatives either helped me a bit or I just can't learn from them.

The Wiki Got me some help but then I got to Loop of the first Chapter. I didn't know what was happening because they changed the layout from Big Boxes to understand to Small red Text With things you have to fill in. The problem with the red text is that I don't know if that's the actual Script or not. http://wiki.roblox.com/?title=Scripting_Book

I don't think Youtube Is very Reliable either. They either don't have what I'm looking for, They're outdated, Or just hard to understand. (especially when its a kid)

This place Is Great but I think its only for Fixing whats wrong with a Script and how to fix/do it. This place would be helpful when I actually Start making Scripts but I can't do that. I've always been a Builder. However I've been wanting to add some Scripts in the place I'm making to add a little more Dazzle to it.

Looking at scripts from the Free models page just won't work for me. Because most of whats in the scripts I can't translate into real world language I've only made 2 scripts

One of them was basically a number comparing script that compares two numbers and decides if the greater than is true or False

The other script I made was just starting with a variable and just changed the range of a Pointlight to add a Flickering effect.

I would love to have some 1on1 tutorials or just have a Partner in scripting I'd teach them the basics of Building they'd teach me the basics of scripting. but I don't think that'll work.

Please help me

1.

The formatting of the Cookbook tutorials is pretty bad. The red boxes are indeed code. Don't limit yourself to these tutorials, though. The wiki has a myriad of tutorials that you can and should take advantage of.

2.

You gotta find the good videos. CodeTheorem has a ton of outdated ones, but also a good amount of updated tutorials. He does a very good job at explaining in my opinion. ScriptGuider also has some good tutorials.

Scripting Helpers won't do the work for you, but if there's something specific you don't understand feel free to ask. For example, don't come here and say "how do u make a dragon that flies???" but it's fine to ask something such as "What does 'pairs' mean?"

I don't like to encourage learning from free models because so many of them are travesties of coding. But if you find a simple one from a credible source (that's also not outdated) it's helpful for some to play around with it.

But really, the one and only way to learn is practice. Practice doesn't make perfect, but it does make progress. It doesn't matter how well you think you understand a concept, write it out, change it, mess with it. Force it to error. Then fix that error! Think of another way to do something. Switch around a value and see what happens.

The ultimate way to learn coding is to do it.
