I need help with a script to make words appear on screen?

For my game I need a script that will make it when a player touches a certain brick it will make words appear on screen for a few seconds then disappear. I do not wish to be given the script just merely put in the right direction because first of i have to idea where to start.

I would suggest learning how to use events, which you can do with tutorials or the ROBLOX wiki.

  1. In this case, the Touched event would be useful, as it activates when a part is touched.
  2. Make sure to check the object that touches the part to identify it as part of a character or another part in the Workspace. The GetPlayerFromCharacter function is useful.
  3. A ScreenGui is required for the player to see something on his/her screen, and a TextLabel could be used to display text.
  4. Lastly, you can use the wait function to create a pause.

It's useful to add that, while FE is enabled, scripts can't access PlayerGui. However, for this asker he probably doesn't use FE. Just useful to add.
