How do I start out in Lua?

Coming from another language, it's best to learn-as-you-go. Use the Roblox Wiki as a primary source. And, of course, there's SH for when you get into more depth.
As for being completely new to programming in general, Roblox Wiki also has some flat-out tutorials. You should be able to find plenty on Youtube, too.

Try using the ROBLOX wiki, and finding some tutorials on YouTube. And if you have problems with scripting then you can post a question on this site.
